International
Conference on Radiation Biology
&
Translational Research on Radiation Oncology
In
collaboration with
9th Biennial Meeting of Indian
Society for Radiation Biology (ISRB)
November
10-12, 2008
UNIVERSITY OF RAJASTHAN, JAIPUR (INDIA)
WELCOME MESSAGE

Vice -chancellor &
chief Patron ICRB 2008
Dear Delegates,
It is my pleasure to invite you to
attend the International Conference on
Radiation Biology & Translational Research
in Radiation Oncology (ICRB-2008) during
November. 10-12, 2008 in Jaipur, India.
Currently, radiation research covers a wide
range of research areas such as medical,
diagnostic, industrial, environmental
sciences as well as translational research
field of physics, chemistry and biology.
Specifically cancer therapy, cancer
biomarkers, cancer prevention,
nanotechnology in radiation oncology,
radiation terrorism, radioprotection, low
dose radiation effect, DNA damage and
biophysical analysis of radiation risk
estimation are the main research topics. The
theme of the upcoming conference
Translational Research in Radiation Oncology
has immense significance in translating the
research findings in the treatment of
cancer.
One of the goals of this conference is to
make a plea to the society and the leading
cancer centers of the world to initiate
efforts that would make available to common
man to receive the benefits of current
developments in radiation oncology. This
needs an urgent intervention of holistic
approach includes life style, diet and drug
which can reduce the huge financial burden
of the cancer patients.
This conference will provide a platform for
the participants to deliberate and update
themselves with the various cutting ends
developments in biology of radiation and
cancer. It will also provide grounds to
exchange scientific and technical
information through plenary sessions,
special lectures, invited talks, categorical
symposia, workshops, poster presentation and
an exhibition. These varied platforms I hope
will serve the cause of improving clinical
practice, research and development as well
as teaching in the field of radiation
biology and oncology.
We are expecting an excellent international
attendance at the conference of eminent
scientists and researchers in the field of
radiation sciences and cancer biology.
Jaipur (Pink City), the capital of
Rajasthan, is full of vitality, cultural
heritage, rich diversity and culinary
delights. I am confident that participants
will enhance their conference experience in
this glorious city. I look forward to
welcoming you to experience the benefits of
this enriching and pioneering conference in
November, 2008.

Invitation
Dear Colleague
|
On behalf of the Organizing Committee and
Host Institution, we take the pleasure of
inviting you to attend the International
Conference on Radiation Biology and
Translational Research in Radiation Oncology
being organized by University of Rajasthan,
Jaipur (India) in collaboration with 9th
Biennial Meeting of Indian Society for
Radiation Biology during November 10-12,
2008.
The scientific programme of the Conference
will encompass all the major disciplines of
radiation sciences including physics,
chemistry, biology, medicine and allied
areas. In addition, the Conference will
focus on some special frontline areas on
Translational Research in Radiation Oncology
including molecular cancer imaging, stem
cells in cancer, DNA repair, systems
biology, radio modifiers and combined
modality of radiation and anticancer drugs.
The Conference would encourage Radiation
Biologists, Medical Physicists, Nuclear
Medicine Physicians, Radiation and Medical
Oncologists, Radiation Technologists,
Bioengineers, Biophysicists, Biochemists,
Radiation Safety Specialists, and those who
are engaged pursuits of improving health and
quality of life, to attend this conference,
present their research work and share their
professional experience. The conference will
be held in an ambient atmosphere, will help
exchange ideas, discuss the latest research
and explore new avenues for technological
development and collaborations. The efforts
would be to specially encourage young
investigators and scholars to participate in
keeping with the main objective of the
Conference is to promote further education
and research on radiation and cancer as well
as applications in diverse fields.
It is hoped that Conference will serve as a
stimulating forum for the scientific and
medical professionals to discuss the latest
advances made in the field of radiation
science, especially radiation biology and
oncology to ameliorate human sufferings from
cancer and to determine new directions for
applications in human health and
environment. The presentations in the
Conference would amply address the present
scenario and future possibilities of
harnessing the nuclear science and
technology for human welfare. The planned
panel discussion on radiation, health and
society would certainly stimulate
professionals and public interest with
regard to better awareness and prospectus of
newer applications of radiation technology
in the service of mankind. It will also
provide an opportunity for constructive and
fruitful interaction among the scientists,
young as well as specialists of various
disciplines of radiation science. It is
aimed to prepare concrete recommendations
for further follow up by the policy makers,
managers of industry, researchers and
regulatory authorities.
The venue of the Conference, Jaipur
popularly called the Pink City of India and
the capital of the state of Rajasthan, is
well known for its architecture,
handicrafts, observatory and gems. Together
with exciting tourist attractions of Delhi
and Agra, Jaipur forms the ‘golden triangle’
of exploring visitors. Jaipur has pleasant
weather in the month of November.
The Organizing Committee would try the best
to make “ICRB-2008” a Conference rich in
scientific contents with interesting and
memorable cultural and social events. You
should not miss to take advantage of this
wonderful location with your near and dear
ones and enjoy the science and hospitality.
We look forward to welcoming you at Jaipur
in November 2008.
